When a community is tested by tragedy, its response becomes its legacy.
After the Eaton Fire ravaged Altadena—destroying more than 9,400 structures, taking 17 precious lives, and leaving thousands displaced—our foothill community refused to fall apart. Instead, Altadena did what Altadena always does:
We came together. We rebuilt from the inside out.We chose connection, creativity, and compassion.
This November, that spirit blooms into something beautiful.
❄️ Introducing the Winter Bloom Market & Gathering
📍 Odyssey Charter School — 725 W. Altadena Drive
📅 Saturday, Nov. 29 (10 AM–6 PM)
📅 Sunday, Nov. 30 (10 AM–5 PM)
💰 FREE Admission
The Winter Bloom Market & Gathering is the first major community celebration since the Eaton Fire—an intentionally crafted healing space built by fire survivor Maggie Ruder, along with co-founders Hilary DeWaay, Kimberly Kirven, and the Bespoke Art Society.
Winter Bloom is more than a market. It’s hope made visible, art made meaningful, and community made whole again.
More than 50 local artisans, creators, makers, and food artists will transform Odyssey Charter School into a holiday village full of music, family activities, handcrafted goods, healing workshops, and cultural joy.
This is REAL community rebuilding. This is REAL economic support for local artists. This is EXACTLY what Altadena and Pasadena need right now.
🌄 Why Winter Bloom Matters This Year More Than Ever
For many Eaton Fire survivors, this holiday season will be their first without their homes, without their treasured family ornaments, and without the traditions that once made the holidays magical.
Winter Bloom is stepping directly into that void—not just offering shopping, but offering restoration.
The weekend includes:
Restorative yoga
Dance and movement lessons
Jam sessions & live music
Crafting circles
Sound baths
“Paint Your Healing” art therapy sessions
Community tent gatherings
Family-friendly workshops
It’s not just a market —It’s a two-day healing experience designed to uplift, embrace, and empower everyone affected by the fire.
🎁 Ornaments for Altadena: Bringing Light Back to Families Who Lost Everything
One of the most meaningful initiatives happening during Winter Bloom is Ornaments for Altadena, created by fire survivors for fire survivors.
After losing homes, many families also lost generations’ worth of holiday decorations—ornaments their children made, heirloom menorahs, handmade kinaras, keepsake stars, and sentimental symbols that cannot be replaced.
This program aims to restore that sense of tradition, piece by piece.
Here’s how the community can help survivors rebuild their holiday spirit:
Donate ornaments, menorahs, kinaras, stars, or holiday keepsakes.
Handmade, vintage, new, meaningful—EVERY item makes a difference.
Include a short note.
Tell the story behind it.
Share why you chose it.
Offer a message of hope.
That personal touch becomes part of someone else’s healing journey.
